Kimbap!

That word is so fun to say, I'll say it again. Kimbap!  It practically begs you to yell it.

So Kdramas are famous for the food porn.  It's like grocery shopping.  If you go with an empty stomach you're going to get in trouble fast.

In Greatest Love, Gu Ae Jung makes kimbap for little Ding Dong's school outing.  Just for fun, I thought I'd try my hand at it.  For a first time, it didn't turn out too bad.  At least the little rolls held together.

Directions are behind the jump:

The most important things you need are nori (sheets of dried seaweed), rice, and a sharp knife.    Everything else is up to your own taste. I didn't have a bamboo mat so I just used a sheet of tin foil to roll it on.

1.  Put down the sheet of nori.  Cover the middle section all the way to the edges with a covering of rice.( I mixed my rice with a few drops of sesame oil and salt.  It smelled SO GOOD.)   Leave the top and the bottom of the sheet bare.  Don't put on too much rice.  Remember, you've got to roll this thing up.  I used a spoon dipped in water to spread the rice and didn't have any problems at all.

2.  In the middle of the sheet lay out your fillings.  I used cucumber, carrots, green onions and scrambled egg I had cooked omelet-style, all thinly sliced.  You can use whatever you want.

3.  Roll from the bottom as tightly as possible, making sure your fillings stay tucked in.  When you have it completely rolled, use your spoon to sprinkle water on the edge to seal it so it stays rolled.

Boom! Kimbap!

Yeahhhhh.  A photographer I am not.
I'll definitely be making this again.  Also, I don't have a picture of it, but if you want your rice on the outside, just flip the sheet over after you've spread your rice and proceed from there.
